School Device Policy

Students in kindergarten through grade 2 do not take their assigned devices home. Devices remain in school.

Students in grades 3 through grade 12 take their Chromebooks home as a part of the district’s 1:1 program.

Wareham Public Schools models its Empowered Digital Use Policy based on our requirement by CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act) to ensure that our protection measures block and filter internet access to obscene pictures and sites that are harmful to minors. In addition, our internet safety policy must include the monitoring of online activities of minors, we must provide education to students regarding appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms, and cyberbullying awareness and response (CIPA, 2017).

Firewall

During the school day, on Wareham Public School's network, internet access for all student devices is filtered by the district’s firewalls. In addition, all Chromebooks issued to students in grades 3-12 have a built-in filter.

Go Guardian

Students in grades K-12 also have an additional layer of security during the school day. The GoGuardian extension installed on student Chromebooks filters student internet access.
