Elementary Reconfiguration Information

Welcome to the Wareham Public Schools Reconfiguration homepage. Here, you will find updates regarding the reconfiguration of our elementary schools, ways to digitally submit questions and suggestions, and opportunities to volunteer to help in various capacities.

Dear Parents, Faculty, Staff, and Community Members:

Wareham Public Schools works diligently to provide optimal learning conditions for our students within our budgetary framework. As we approach the FY15 school year and work within our financial constraints, it has become necessary to reconfigure our district’s elementary schools.

After examining all of our options, speaking to parents, faculty, staff, community members, and holding public forums, I will be recommending that the School Committee approve the following reconfiguration of our elementary schools for the FY15 school year, which begins in September 2014:

  1. Closing the East Wareham Early Childhood Center
  2. Students in grades K, 1, and 2 attend Decas Elementary
  3. Students in grades PreK, 3, and 4 attend Minot Forest Elementary

I appreciate the input I have received from all parties regarding this topic.

As we move forward with this process, we will have updates about transportation plans and before- and after-school care. Open houses for families will be scheduled at both Decas and Minot Forest. Our transition plan will be placed on the District website.

Please direct questions or comments to kshaver-hood@wareham.k12.ma.us.

Very sincerely yours,

Kimberly Shaver-Hood

There is an open-door policy at each of the schools if parents and guardians would like to visit. Open houses will also be scheduled.
